About us
Welcome.Ruhr is a project led by the Ruhr Regional Association together with its partners Business Metropole Ruhr GmbH, the city co-operation Integration.Interkommunal, which includes the cities of Duisburg, Oberhausen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Herne, Bochum, Bottrop and Dortmund, Duisburg Business & Innovation GmbH and Essener Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH.
In 2011, the mayors of the aforementioned cities and representatives from business, science and associations signed the agreement "A sign for diversity and talent", in which welcome.ruhr was formulated as a flagship initiative. The aim is to attract qualified immigrants to the Ruhr region by establishing a welcoming culture and thus contribute to growth and employment in terms of securing skilled labour
