Vocational training in the Ruhrgebiet
Vocational Training: Your career start in the Ruhrgebiet
Would you like to get your career off to a flying start and have decided to do an apprenticeship in the Ruhrgebiet? You are very welcome! Skilled labour is in great demand among companies in the Ruhr area. This is because there is already a shortage of qualified applicants for vacancies in many sectors. A dual training programme offers a wide range of opportunities: whether practical work experience, excellent career opportunities or a permanent job.
The dual training system has existed in Germany for over 50 years. Germany was a pioneer in terms of vocational training and is still a role model for many countries today. But what does dual training actually mean and why is the system so successful?
Dual training, also known as in-company training, is the traditional training system in Germany. The training is divided into two parts and takes place at a vocational school and a company.
This means that you work in a training company on the one hand and attend vocational school on the other.
At the vocational college, students learn the theoretical basics needed to practise the profession. At the training company, you put what you have learnt into practice and apply it directly.
An apprenticeship usually lasts between two and three and a half years.
WHICH TRAINING OCCUPATIONS ARE THERE IN GERMANY AND WHICH ONE SUITS ME?
It's not that easy, because there are so many training occupations. And new ones are constantly being added and others disappear because the world of work is changing.
Take a look at BERUFENET. There you can find out what professions there are and what you actually learn during your training.
TRAINING PAYS OFF
There are many good reasons to opt for dual training:
Your chances of starting an apprenticeship are therefore very good, as many sectors are desperately looking for trainees. Many positions remain unfilled every year.
In addition, you earn money from the very beginning of your apprenticeship, because the companies pay you a salary for the work you do there.
Un You have very good chances of being taken on after successfully completing your training: around two thirds of all trainees are taken on directly by their companies.
Vocational training also prepares you for the future. Committed, professionally qualified specialists are in demand on the labour market. In some areas, there is even a greater demand for trained specialists than academics.
